FORT SCOTT, Ks.--

A Fort Scott man is charged with premeditated murder after a house fire kills his wife and injures his child.

25 year old Brent Bollinger is charged with first degree murder, aggravated child endangerment, and aggravated arson.

The fire happened in October of last year on Grand Road just South of Ft Scott.

His wife, 23 year old Brenna Bollinger died in the fire.

His 2 year old son survived but with serious burns and was taken to Shriners Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Brent Bollinger also suffered burns on 69 percent of his body.

He was arrested last week and his bond is set at 1 million dollars.

Authorities are not saying what role Bollinger played in the fire, and the case is still under investigation.

His next court date is set for February 9th.
