Economists Optimistic About 2014

Financial experts say the economy should continue to accelerate in 2014.
JOPLIN, MO -- Financial experts say the economy should continue to accelerate in 2014. The latest data shows consumers are spending more because they've recently seen some gains in wages. The U.S. economy grew at a 4.1 percent annual rate in the third quarter, which is the best it's been in over a year. Financial advisors say they're feeling optimistic about this coming year.

"There's a lot of money sitting on the sidelines that can be invested by corporate America, so that's new jobs, so hiring new employees, refitting factories, buying new technology. When all that money starts moving around that will cause more people to be employed," said Marshall Hogue, Edward Jones Financial Advisor.

Economists also say the housing market continues to climb out of the deepest down-turn since the Great Depression.
