Duquesne 20th Street Annexation

The City of Duquesne hopes annexing a portion of 20th Street will improve safety in the area.
DUQUESNE, MO.--- The City of Duquesne hopes annexing a portion of 20th Street will improve safety in the area. Mayor Denny White spoke to county commissioners today about annexing 20th Street from south Amie Lane to Kenser Road. He says the city is looking to extend farther out along 20th Street to better control traffic in the area, as well as prepare for future widening of the street. The annexation would allow Duquesne police officers to patrol more of the roadway around the East Middle School campus.

"The way it is now, we are only able to control right at the school. There's much more traffic coming toward the schools every day and we would like to have a little better control of it before it gets to the school," said Denny White, Duquesne Mayor.

Duquesne will hold a public hearings as part of the next step in the annexation process.
