Drury Students Build Overlook Project

Drury University students drop their text books and put on work gloves to help add a peaceful feeling to Cunningham Park.

JOPLIN --- It's part of the Landscapes of Resilience Project in rememberance of the lives lost in the May 22nd tornado. Drury architecture students are in town today blitz building the butterfly garden and overlook they designed last year. It will be located at the northeast section of the park. The project features a water wall, a pavillion, two water features and benches.

"Today is Joplin communtiy day and we've had volunteers out here all morning and they've ebeen doing a good job working elbow to elbow with our students and that's just a wonderful experience," says Traci Sooter, Drury Professor.

The students will continue working on the site through tomorrow, and hope to dedicate the butterfly garden and overlook in May of 2014.
