Downtown Pittsburg Annual Open House for Shoppers

The city is working to encourage residents to support their local businesses, specifically in the downtown area.
PITTSBURG, KS.--- The city of Pittsburg says get ready to shop till you drop. Downtown Pittsburg is hosting its annual open house for shoppers tomorrow night. Downtown businesses have been preparing all day for the annual open house.

"Come downtown and see all the unique shops that are here and I'm sure that they will have something unique that you can purchase for your Christmas gifts," Said Jeff Wilbert, Downtown District Coordinator.

All businesses in the area have agreed to stay open until 8:30 tomorrow night. The city is working to encourage residents to support their local businesses, specifically in the downtown area.

"I think it's really critical that we encourage people not to go out of town to shop. I think you can find what you need here in Pittsburg, we encourage people to do that- to shop locally," said Wilbert.

Home Place Owner Shellie Blevens says she's looking forward to the Christmas shopping season and everything in her store will be 20% to 30% off tomorrow.

"Oh, I'm just so excited that the downtown has come together as a group, and we've organized a total downtown open house that we can all work together and celebrate the season for shopping," said  Shellie Blevens, Home Place Owner.

The Home Place located at 616 North Broadway has everything from artwork to Christmas decorations. Blevens says you're sure to find that perfect gift for a special someone!

"You will not regret it and you'll find many, many gifts for your holiday season," said Blevens.
