Dodgeball Event Helps Raise Money for a Good Cause

Nearly 200 people compete for a good cause this morning.

JOPLIN --- Competitors showed up to Missouri Southern's Young Gymnasium this morning for the 1st Annual United Way Dodgeball Tournament. Participants came dressed in all kinds of unique uniforms . The event was hosted by United Way and Leggett and Platt benefiting the local United Way Branch.

"United Way helps so many people. They cannot do that, they cannot touch people's lives the way that they do, unless there are people in the community like there are here today serving that whole machine. And that's why we're here. We're trying to help them accomplish their goals of really reaching out in the community and making a difference," says Mark Quinn, Leggett and Platt Marketing.

Organizers say they surpassed their goal of raising $5,000 through the tournament.
