NEVADA, MO.--- Some Nevada residents bought sack lunches to help fund college scholarships. The Dianas Club in Nevada hosted the 15th Annual Scholarship Hamburger Fundraiser today. The proceeds from the luncheon will help provide two scholarships for high school senior girls in Vernon County. The Dianas is a service club of more than 30 women. The organizations leader, Barbara Ferry, says selling hamburgers is a lot easier than the melodramas they use to do, plus it's a homemade meal.
"For seven dollars you get a hamburger, potato chips, cookies and a drink. The cookies are made by the high school, children taking the cooking class," said Barbara Ferry, Dianas Club Member.
The two qualified students will receive the the scholarships at the end of the year.
