David Bennett Junior's First Court Appearance Scheduled

The man accused of killing a Parsons woman and her three children will make his first court appearance this Monday.
PARSONS, MO.--- The man accused of killing a Parsons woman and her three children will make his first court appearance this Monday. David Bennett Junior, 22, of Cherryvale is being held in the Labette County Jail on a $5 million bond. The Kansas Attorney General's Office announced today criminal charges will be filed as soon as possible, but no later than December 10th. Representatives say they want to thoroughly evaluate all evidence before filing charges, but a judge determined there is probable cause to hold Bennett in connection to the murders.

Bennett is suspected in the deaths of Cami Umbarger, 29, and her three children: Hollie, 8, Jaxon, 5, Averie, 4. Authorities confirmed Tuesday, the four were found dead inside their home at 415 North 25th Street in Parsons. Family members and co-workers reported them missing on Monday after Umbarger did not show up to work.

Visitation has been scheduled for this Sunday afternoon starting at three at the Forbes Hoffman Funeral Home at 405 Main Street in Parsons. The family's funeral will be the following day, Monday December 2nd at 2 p.m. at the Thayer Christian Church. Family members have asked for any monetary donations be given to the Parsons Recreation Center.
