Young Joplin Girl Donates to a El Salvador Orphanage

A little girl in Joplin gave up birthday presents so that she could help others in need.
JOPLIN, MO.--- A little girl in Joplin gave up birthday presents so that she could help others in need. Paisely Portillo decided helping out an orphanage in El Salvador would be the best gift for her seventh birthday. She asked her friends and family to give her new tennis shoes instead of presents to pass along to orphans in the Central American country. Paisely has 16 pairs so far,  and hopes to get more for "La Casa De Mi Padre." The orphanage has 24 children ages 5 to 21 years old, so Paisely is looking for shoes in all sizes.

"I heard God's voice. Giving is better than receiving," said  Paisely Portillo, Shoe Drive Leader.

"She makes me proud. You know, she doesn't have to do it anymore if she doesn't want to. She did say that she wants to do it for Christmas and, you know, forever," said Omar Portillo, Father.

If you would like to help out Paisley's cause and donate tennis shoes, you can drop them off at Styles Hair Salon in Joplin until March 1st.
