The wife of an area pastor facing federal child pornography charges is speaking out this Wednesday evening.

51-year-old Michael Alan Crippen was arrested Monday after police discovered pornographic images on his home computer.

Michael Crippen has been a pastor for ten years. Since July of 2009 he has led the First Baptist Church in Duenweg.

But this is the first sign ever his wife, family, and neighbors knew of his problem.

Robyn Crippen says the hardest part is imagining what her neighbors think of her family now.

The last time Robyn saw Michael was Monday morning.

That evening she found a note from him saying he had to turn himself in to police.

Robyn says she discovered her husband's problem on October 13th when officials with Homeland Security and The Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force showed up at their Duenweg home.

Robyn says that evening her husband confessed, however she didn't know the magnitude of the problem until officers filled her in on the details.

Authorities say the investigation began after Crippen allegedly downloaded pornographic children's pictures from a website in the Netherlands in August of 2009. This is one month after he began working at the First Baptist Church.

When authorities seized his desktop and laptop computer, they found more than 100 pornographic images, all of children under the age of ten.

Robyn says she will not divorce her husband. She believes this is a one time incident.

Church officials say when Crippen was hired a thorough back ground check came back clean.

Bob McKinzie has been named interim pastor.

Mckinzie says the congregation was shocked and he will address the issue to church members in a round about way.

"Sunday morning we will deal with the love and backing of the church. Without naming names or going into detail. I would imagine there will be people here Sunday morning that haven't been here in a long time."

A federal detention hearing is scheduled this Friday. Crippen is being held without bond.
