JOPLIN, MO.--- Victory Ministry and Sports Complex in Joplin is providing 280,000 meals for children who live in Haiti. "Victory for Haiti" is a one-day event that utilizes 1,600 local and regional volunteers to package 280,000 meals for Haitian children. About 70% of Haiti's population is undernourished, with infants and children suffering most. Organizers say this donation provides about 2,500 students a meal for about 90 days.
"We just want to bring the Joplin community in the area and the region together for a Christ honoring project that will serve a group of students in a far away place that have a need for a nutritional meal," said Clifford Wert, Victory for Haiti, Organizer.
Organizers hope to raise $60,000 to provide the $280,000 meals, donations are being accepted through the day of the event on April 26th. Currently, $40,000 have already been donated from 50 different contributors.
