Via Christi New Soft Tissue Mobilization Tools

New tools are helping physical therapists at one Southeast Kansas hospital relieve pain and keep some patients off the operating table.
PITTSBURG, KS.--- New tools are helping physical therapists at one Southeast Kansas hospital relieve pain and keep some patients off the operating table. For nearly a decade, Via Christi Hospital Physical Therapist Ryan Niederklein has been practicing facial assessment soft tissue mobilization.

He says there have always been several options available for the treatments, including using your hands. However, the hospital recently acquired new devices, which are not only more comfortable to work with, but also make it easier to identify soft tissue issues in patients.

"I used tool assisted soft tissue mobilization for pretty much the last eight years. These new tools are the best I've used," said Ryan Niederklein, Via Christi Hospital.

The treatment is designed for many parts of the body, including the back and arms. Soft tissue issues will often result in pain or discomfort in moving for patients, these treatments may be able to help correct at a fraction of the cost of surgery.
