PITTSBURG, KS--- Via Christi Hospital receives National Accreditation from The Joint Commission. The Joint Commission is the main accrediting body in health care. Over the course of three days, six surveyors examined the hospital's methods and procedures. Via Christi staff were commended for their cleanliness and their committment to patient safety.
"So they trace the patient through the system and identify any areas where we can make improvements. And then they also tell us where we are doing really good at, which is a nice affirmation for our staff that we are providing high quality care," says Carrie Amershek, the risk management director at Via Christi Hospital.
An accredited hospital must meet more than 300 nationally recognized health care standards.
