NEVADA, MO.--- The Nevada Police Department and the Vernon County Sheriff's Office are leaning on each other for additional assistance when it comes to combating crime and working on charity projects. Both agencies interacted with one another at Nevada's 50th Annual Bushwacker Days event, which celebrates the town's history. Police officers say it's important to set an example for local citizens.
"For one thing, the community can see that we're all united in the same cause of preventing crime and enforcing the laws," said Lukas Gibson, Nevada Police Officer.
The police department also relies on the Vernon County Drug Task Force to help tackle drug problems in the area.
