Update: One Death in Pittsburg Jake's Fireworks Explosion

Kenny Clark, 28, passed away from his injuries at a hospital in Joplin.
PITTSBURG, KS. --- It happened at 2:35pm Tuesday, at Jake's Fireworks near 20th St. and the U.S. 69 Bypass. Kenny Clark, 28, passed away from his injuries at a hospital in Joplin. Howard Harper,42, was critically injured and taken to a hospital in Springfield.

The two workers were removing fireworks from a storage unit. They were outside of the main building when something exploded. According to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, the cause of the explosion is still being investigated.

Jake's Fireworks issued a statement Wednesday saying, " Safety is our number one priority and we are currently working with local fire and police on assessing the situation to learn specifically what occurred. All employees were accounted for and the area has been secured. Our main focus now is on our employees and families that were affected by the accident. We ask you to please keep the Jake's Fireworks family in your thoughts and prayer."
