Two Fires in Joplin Keep Crews Busy Friday Night

The Joplin Fire Department was hard at work Friday night battling two blazes just blocks apart.

JOPLIN, MO-- Crews first responded to a fire at 2516 North Turk around 11:25 Friday night. Upon arrival, firefighters found a single story home on fire and smoke was showing from both the garage and house. The roof collapsed and several vehicles along with a shed were damaged. The fire was under control around 1:45 Saturday morning and crews remained on scene until about 3:30 a.m. No one was injured.
The American Red Cross has stepped in to assist the residents of the home.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Crews were also battling another fire just a few blocks west at 2502 North Florida Avenue. Responders arrived on scene shortly after midnight where a garage had fire coming from its front door. The roof then collapsed and crews were on scene until 2 a.m. No injuries were reported. The cause is still under investigation.
