True Charity Initiative

Workers from dozens of local charities get together to improve how they help the less fortunate.
JOPLIN, MO.--- Workers from dozens of local charities get together to improve how they help the less fortunate. The "True Charity Initiative" is an informal network of aid services like food pantries and homeless shelters. Today, members heard from Dr. John Perkins about his Christian Community Development Association. Workers hope the presentation will help the Joplin group find new ways to fine-tune what they do.

"Everything about this man is how to develop people. Not just give a hand out that would sustain somebody in a dependent cycle. So we want to learn from him today and how we can better help people in our community to rise up out of poverty," said James Whitford, Executive Director, True Charity Initiative.
