JOPLIN, MO.--- The Olympics may have wrapped up, but the Math Olympics are going strong. Students at Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School in Joplin placed first in a recent math competition. The group competed against several other area middle school students in the area. The "Math Counts" team placed first place overall. They also won five of the top 10 places in the individual contests. The students say math just comes easy for them and it's nice to test their skills.
"A lot of good people, so it's nice knowing you're as good as they are or better," said Lane Wilson, 7th Grade Student.
The math team will now advance to the state competition in Columbia.
