NEOSHO, MO.--- The Crowder Quill won two awards for its spring 2013 magazine.
"This was the first year that we got the 'Best Community College Literary Arts Magazine Award.' So, that's the one that we're most proud of," said Latonia Bailey, Crowder Quill Advisor.
Crowder College's magazine was also award first place with special merits for overall magazine, an award that has been given to the magazine several years in a row. The Quill is a literary arts magazine that's been at the school since 1980.
"We have entries in fiction, non-fiction, poetry, art and photography," said Bailey.
The Quill is open to any student, as well as any citizen within a 100 mile radius of the campus.
"So a college bringing in the community, weird for a community college," said Joseph Mandlebaum, Current Student.
The entry deadline for the 2014 issue is one week from today on February 4th.
"Of course, our magazine is only as good as the entries we receive. The more entries that we have, then we can highlight and focus on the creme of the crop," said Bailey.
