Thank A Gorilla Event

PITTSBURG, KS-- Pittsburg State University students are paying a special tribute to donors.

The program is called "Thank A Gorilla." This is the first year for the event. It was created to recognize those who have donated to the university. Students are putting ribbons and tags on items funded by private donors. Everything from classrooms to statues.

Becky May, the Director of Donor Relations says it's eye opening to see how much is given to the university and its students. "The state funding and federal funding is going down and the need for private funding increasing so that's one reason we want to thank these generous alumni and friends for helping us and for making the student experience possible."

Bracelets are also given to students who have received scholarships.
