JOPLIN, MO.--- The American Red Cross receives a large donation from a Joplin business. Tamko Building Products has donated a $100,000 to the American Red Cross. The money will be used to assist people in Baxter Springs and Quapaw that were affected by the recent tornado. It will help with providing food, clothing, financial assistance and shelter. Tamko helped during the Joplin tornado in 2011 and organizers hope this donation inspires others to give their support.
"The urge to help is a universal urge for all people. Our gift is part of that, our gift is to inspire others to do the same thing for Baxter and Quapaw, and not to forget them," said David Humphreys, Tamko President and CEO.
"My first reaction was, 'did you hear the number right?' And then just amazing. Amazing that they're helping in this way," said Debi Meeds, Red Cross.
The Red Cross will continue to provide relief in Quapaw and Baxter Springs until everyone is back on their feet.
