JOPLIN, MO.--- In fact, depression affects 7% of U.S. adults every year. Some of the symptoms include depressed moods, sleeping too much or lack of sleep, feelings of guilt, hopelessness, worthlessness, and suicidal thoughts. Every year, around 38,000 people in the United States kill themselves. A local psychiatrist says suicide is a major health problem of all ages.
"Not only does it affect adults, it affects teenagers. It is the third leading cause of death in teenagers. And it can be prevented. So if you're concerned that you may be suicidal or a loved one is, please seek help," said Charles Graves MD, Ozark Center Psychiatrist.
