JOPLIN, MO.---- Neil Grehlinger is making a cross country bike trek along the TransAmerica Trail, from Oregon to South Carolina. He's making several stops along the 4,2000 mile journey to spread awareness for 'Soldier's Best Friend.' The nonprofit organization helps provide service or therapeutic companion dogs for soldiers living with PTSD or traumatic brain injury. Grehlinger says he chose the cause because it's something he supports and believes in.
"What I really like about this organization is that their motto is 'We save two lives,' because what they actually do is they get animals, then rescue them," said Neil Grehlinger, Biking for Soldier's Best Friend,
So far, Grehlinger has completed nearly 2,500 miles of his trip to support Soldier's Best Friend. The organization uses donations to cover the $2,500 cost of training and equipping each soldier-dog pair, at no cost to the veteran.
