CARTHAGE, MO.--- A dozen employees were recognized at an award ceremony at the county's commission meeting this morning. The employees completed level one of the Show Me Road Scholar Program, which includes courses on work zone and worker safety. The superintendent of the highway department says the training means safer work zones for drivers. Each honoree received a jacket and certificate from Missouri's local technical assistance program director for their achievement.
"Anytime a community can invest in training, we certainly feel like they are investing in the cost-effectiveness of doing things," said Heath Pickerill, Missouri LTAP Director.
The Road Scholar Program's goal to train skilled professionals in public works and transportation agencies.
