Shoal Creek Clean-Up

Volunteers are working to protect our environment.

JOPLIN, MO--- Volunteers took time out of their day to clean up Shoal Creek. The event, hosted by the Wildcat Clades Conservation and Audubon Center, is part of a continued effort to keep the environment clean. The volunteers loaded into kayaks and picked up trash along the creek finding items like shoes, cups, and hubcaps.

"We definitely want to keep the water quality good here, because Shoal Creek is our main water source for the City of Joplin. Also the City of Neosho draws most of their water supply from Shoal Creek. So, it's in all of our best interest to keep it clean and looking nice," says Chris Pistole, director of the Wildcat Glades Conservation and Audubon Center.

According Chris Pistole, the City of Joplin has plans to further develop Shoal Creek in the near future.
