Seneca Food Pantry Donation Needs

Seneca Food Pantry Donation Needs

The demand for food is high and the Seneca Food Pantry is struggling to meet that need.
SENECA, MO.--- "We get a order monthly from Ozark Food Harvest in Springfield, but sometimes that doesn't go quite as far as we need it to go," said Shaun Severs, Seneca Food Pantry Manager.

Right now the pantry is in need of peanut butter, jelly, tuna fish, and canned vegetables.

"The kids have been out of school, the parents have been having to deal with them, feeding them all day long breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So it's really hurt our food pantry through the summer months, where we've had to put out more food per family," said Severs.

Today, staff of Associates of Dental Arts located in Joplin donated some items to help with the need.

"Dr. Kivett has always been wanting to give back, and our entire team, to the community. Especially children and families, so we did our research and we decided that Seneca's pantry was in need of some support and help," said Karen Lais, Associates of Dental Arts.

It's a huge benefit to the residents in Seneca.

"Especially with neither one of us being able to work right now and not having any income for food," said Samuel Buening, food pantry customer.

The pantry workers are thankful for today's donation, but say they're still in need for more. If you would like to make a donation, you can drop it off at the seneca Food Pantry at 821 North Cherokee Avenue in Seneca.
