PSU World Cup Watch Party

Even though they're far from home, some Pittsburg State students are getting the chance to root for their home country during the World Cup.

PITTSBURG, KS.--- A couple dozen Brazilian students joined millions around the world as the home team took on Mexico in today's World Cup action. The parties are held in the crimson commons lounge, the residence hall where most of the PSU Brazilian students live during the summer. Brazil students say although they're not home watching the game with their families, PSU organizers have made this event extra special for them.

"I am with friends and I hope that Brazil wins this game and wins the World Cup, but here in America, is really interesting though all these people are helping us to feel at home," said Renato Formigari, Pittsburg State University Student.

Residence hall staff helped make some Brazilian-style snacks to also help students feel like they're home. The match ended in a tie with Brazil and Mexico each receiving one point. Both teams lead group A of the tournament with 4 points each.
