PITTSBURG, KS.--- The next Barbie or G.I. Joe could be designed at Pittsburg State University. The school's toy design class had students create board games, robots and bobble heads. The students then sold their homework on the oval this afternoon. The money raised from the sale is going to the Safehouse Crisis Center in Pittsburg. This is the first year of the class. Teachers say it's combining two popular areas of study, construction and art.
"You bring your creativity, your commitment and your intention. You can go into an area you've never done before and have a really successful experience. I think that was for all of us," said Portico Bowman, PSU Art Professor.
One of the students has already heard from a major toy company that's interested in their design. So you may see some of these toys on the shelf soon.
