MIAMI, OK.--- Peoria Ridge golfers are taking advantage of the features inside their new clubhouse. Golf Course Superintendent Milton Hale says he enjoys the opportunity to spend time relaxing inside the clubhouse after a long day hitting the links.
"With the amenities here, you can go in and have a beverage when you get done and figure up your scores. Just a whole lot nicer," said Milton Hale, Peoria Ridge Golf Course Superintendent.
Before the new 6,500 square foot facility was built, club members used a smaller one that was only 15,000 square feet. Now that the new clubhouse is open, golfers have access to a new banquet room, bar and grill, and pro shop.
"It's nice to be able to offer this to our customers. We've seen a very nice increase in business as we've been able to expand the amenities that we're able to offer here, at the golf course as well. And it draws in a lot of new people to the area as well," said Nate Benedict, Peoria Ridge Golf Course Manager.
Course staff say the new features have also cause a significant increase in business sales. Prior to the new clubhouse's opening, concession revenue was around $3 per customer. Now, it's up to $9 per customer. The pro shop has also seen an increase in sales.
"We were able to expand the items that we offer in the pro shop, we've got a little more space to do that now. And with the increase in the number of rounds, we're also seeing a significant increase in the number of pro shop sales," said Benedict.
The new clubhouse allows more opportunities for members to spend time at the facility during the off season.
"I think it gives the town of Miami and different organizations a place to have Christmas parties and meetings, and even, you know, golf leagues," said Hale.
Clubhouse staff say that there is an expected 20% increase in round plays by the end of this year.
