Parsons Man Sentenced for the 2012 Murder of a Joplin Man

Cody Stephens has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and charged with first degree burglary and second degree murder.
PARSONS, KS.--- A Parsons man will go to jail for the 2012 murder of a Joplin man. Cody Stephens, 22, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and charged with first degree burglary and second degree murder. Stephens plead guilty to the charges back in December. The charges stem from the July 2012 murder of Jacob Wages. Authorities say 5 men broke into Wages' home on South Pearl Street in July 2012 and shot him with a handgun. Stephens was immediately arrested after finding him in possession of the victim's black lock box.
