JOPLIN, MO.--- The Parr Hill Park on 17th and Kansas now has an exercise station which includes walkers, ellipticals, leg-lift stations, pull-up bars as well as other various body weight machines. The equipment came from the outdoor playground at the temporary FEMA housing that was built by the airport after the tornado. Joplin Parks and Recreation Director Chris Cotton says they wanted to add the outdoor workout equipment to make sure there's something for everyone to do.
"We want to put something in there for every member of the family. So, junior can have the dog at the dog park, mom can be working out on the equipment, older brother could be playing basketball, little sister can be playing in the splash pad," said Chris Cotton, Joplin Parks and Recreation Director.
"I think it's great for adults, people that really actually need exercise. They don't have to go to the gym and pay a certain amount of fees," said Kenny Young, Joplin resident.
Cotton also says this was the final component to park redevelopment and is the only park with outdoor workout equipment.
