Oscar Mayer Weinermobile Makes Visit to Joplin

Next stop is Rogers, Arkansas.
JOPLIN, MO --- People may have gotten a little hungry as they watched an odd shaped car drive through Joplin.

The Oscar Mayer Weinermobile stopped at Walmart on 7th Street this afternoon.  Residents took pictures in front of the iconic vehicle and received an Oscar Mayer whistle.

Oscar Mayer is based in Wisconsin and six Weinermobiles travel the country throughout the year.  Driver Steve Johnson says they came to Joplin to help celebrate the city's recovery from the May 2011 tornado.

"Whenever you have the opportunity to vessel the spread of smiles, make people happy, there's nothing else you can ask for," Johnson said.  "Being able to drive down the road and see people smile just because you are driving a crazy shaped vehicle."

The next stop for the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile will be in Rogers, Arkansas.
