Officer Involved Shooting in Cassville

A county official says the shooting occurred during a Cassville Police officer's response to a domestic dispute.
Cassville, MO. --- One man is dead in an officer-involved shooting in Cassville Tuesday, according to Barry County officials.

According to a press release from the Cassville Police Department, around 7:30am Tuesday, the Cassville Police Department responded to a 911 call at 600 Old Exeter Rd. for a report of a disturbance in progress. When the officer arrived there was an altercation between he and the suspect. The suspect assaulted the officer with a pipe at which time the officer discharged his firearm arm striking the suspect. The suspect died in route to the hospital due to injuries received.

The officer was transported to Mercy Hospital in Cassville, where he is being treated for injuries as a result of the assault. The officer has been placed on routine administrative leave pending the results of an investigation being conducted by the Missouri Highway Patrol and the Barry County Sheriff's Office.
