PITTSBURG, KS--- Pittsburg Public Library is using some brand new technology. They are now allowing library patrons to check out magazines online. The new technology, called "Zenio", is a service that will allow residents access to more than thirty of their favorite magazines. It's free and all you need is your library card. It can also be accessed from mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets.
"What is really cool about this is that it's multi-access. So if 500 people want to read this magazine, they can at the same time. And you never have to return them. You can keep the magazine forever or you can delete them from your account," says Bev Clarkson, Pittsburg Public Library director.
This service will officially start next week. It's a $5,000 program, which is being paid for by the library foundation.
