NEOSHO, MO.--- A speed limit change is still in the works on Neosho Boulevard. The Missouri Department of Transpiration has agreed to a change. However, the City of Neosho and MODOT disagree about what the speed should be. It is currently 45 mph. MODOT wants to lower it to 40 mph, while the city wants it lowered to 35 mph. A recent speed survey showed drivers traveled 30 to 39 miles per hour.
"Over the years, Neosho has grown in that direction and just for the safety of the citizens and stuff pulling in and out of the businesses out there, we felt that we should have safety concerns consistent with the only speed limit along the boulevard," said Troy Royer, Neosho City Manager.
Officials would like to see a change in the next few months, but there's still no definite date set for the speed limit to change.
