National Take Your Dog to Work Day

Some of your co-workers may have brought an extra friend to work today.
JOPLIN, MO.--- Today is National Take Your Dog to Work Day. Lysa Boston is the shelter manager at the Joplin Humane Society, and she brought her dog, Lexi Bubbles, to work. She says not all jobs allow you to take your dogs, but working in a shelter is a natural environment. Boston says dogs can lower stress and provide a fun work environment.

"It would be a lot more fun. It's kind of more engaging too, because you can't see a dog without engaging in conversation with the owner. So I think it just makes it a friendlier place to be, but certainly I think people need to check and make sure that bringing your dog to work is an okay thing before doing it," said Lysa Boston, Shelter Manager.

The holiday was created back in 1999 by the Pet Sitters International Group.
