JOPLIN, MO.--- June is National Senior Safety Month. Members with the Area Agency on Aging in Joplin are asking people to double check seniors' homes for tripping hazards. Things like throw rugs, loose railings or a slick bathroom floor could lead to a fall.
"It can change their life, can go from an active, normal lifestyle to having a major injury. Preventing falls is one of the most important things that we can do for our seniors," said Allison Riddle, Area Agency on Aging.
Home Instead Senior Care is offering free home safety checks. You can call 417-625-1868 to set up an appointment.
