MSSU 'Take Back the Night' Events

Students at Missouri Southern State University showed their support today by participating in the "Walk in Her Shoes" race.
JOPLIN, MO.--- Boys at Missouri Southern State University got a chance to feel what it was like to be a woman. Alpha Sigma Alpha partners with the the Joplin Lafayette House for a week of events called "Take Back the Night." Students at MSSU showed their support today by participating in the "Walk in Her Shoes" race. It gives guys the chance to walk in heels, if only for a short distance. The idea is to raise awareness across the community for sexual assault. Members of the sorority say it's important that college students are aware of the cause as well.

"It's important to be able to come out Thursday night and share what's happened and be able to support each other and know what's going on in our world," said Kierstyn Hillman, Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority Member.

A candle light ceremony will take place at the oval on MSSU campus tomorrow night at 7.
