MSSU Hosts a Dedication Ceremony for W. Robert Corley

The Missouri Southern State University's Dental Hygiene Clinic has been dedicated to W. Robert Corley for his big donation to the university.
JOPLIN, MO.--- A dedication ceremony was held today to honor a generous man for his donations to Missouri Southern State University. The Missouri Southern State University's Dental Hygiene Clinic has been dedicated to W. Robert Corley for his big donation to the university.

"He really feels that education is important and that this university is important to the community and wants to do what he can do to help. So we really appreciate that," said Joann Graffam, Vice President for MSSU Development.

Vice President for MSSU Development Joann Graffam says what's interesting is Robert Corley isn't even an alumnus to the university.

"He's a great great friend to the university. He became involved with the university a number of years ago in different programs from theater and music and doing some travel with some of the faculty members through various programs and just fell in love with the university," said Graffam.

The health sciences building where the dental clinic is located, was completed with public funds. Additional private money was donated from Corley, that the school can use for capital improvements on campus.

"He's a wonderful person and very generous person, and we appreciate everything that he's done," said Diane Moore, Interim Director for Dental Hygiene Program.

This isn't the first time the university has honored Corley.

"He made a significant gift a number of years ago for scholarships and we actually named one of the auditoriums in Webster Hall for him," said Graffam.

The clinic has 22 operatories and six radiology operatories that provide digital X-rays and other services. All of the equipment in the building is state-of-the art, thanks to the generous donations from Corley.

"It's awesome that he can donate all this money to help us be better students," said Sara Kirk, Dental Hygiene Student.

"We are so appreciative and thankful of it because without him, we couldn't do all of this. We couldn't get the proper equipment that we needed," said Kristina Krug, Dental Hygiene.

The clinic offers teeth cleanings, X-rays and other services for the public. They are done by students that are supervised by dental faculty. The services costs only $20 for the public and $10 for MSSU students. For more information, you can call 1417-6259709.
