JOPLIN, MO.--- Missouri Southern State University announces a new scholarship plan to reward high achieving students. Missouri Southern hopes the plan will attract more incoming and transfer students who are academically prepared. Institutional scholarships will be able to pay for all indirect costs like fees, book costs, and room and board costs, rather than just tuition. Plus, high achieving incoming and transfer students will be able to stack certain scholarships. Previously, students had to pick the highest paying award.
"We hope that by giving some additional dollars to students who are high achieving and they've worked hard in high school, and they are coming in with a strong ACT and GPA, that we can give them some additional help to help offset the bill," said Becca Diskin, Financial Aid Director.
Missouri Southern reallocated their scholarship funds in order to make this happen. The plan will be implemented for the 2014-2015 school year.
