JOPLIN, MO.--- Missouri Southern students and faculty throw on their cowboy hats today for the 35th Annual Spring Picnic. The western themed event on campus included a mechanical bull, archery dome, shooting range, and a lasso competition. Country music played throughout the day along with a live DJ. The event featured plenty of food to go around including hot dogs, spicy chicken sandwiches and burgers.
"So it's a tradition we have had for a long time. And it's an all campus picnic, so faculty, staff, students a like all get free food and take part in the games and everything," said Landon Adams, Director of Student Activities.
"There's like mini horse races over there with inflatables horses, I've done that. I'm getting ready to ride the bull. I haven't gotten to do the bowen arrow yet, but I'm really excited to try it," said Anna Bowerman, MSSU Coordinator.
More than 2,000 students attended the event.
