JOPLIN, MO.--- More than 150 area students are showing off their history knowledge. Missouri Southern State University hosted it's annual History Day today. The theme of this years event is "Rights and Responsibilities" in history. Projects focused on the Civil Rights Movement and also controversial issues like pro-choice. The history day has been an annual tradition for more than 30 years. Organizers say the displays usually get more impressive each year.
"I'm really inspired by some of the exhibits here. If they were in a state or national museum, they belong there," said Dr. Paul Teverow, MSSU History.
The winner of the competition will then progress to the National History Day that will be held at the University of Missouri-Columbia in April.
