JOPLIN, MO.--- Mercy Prestige learns the importance of heart health this Valentine's Day. More than 100 people gathered for Mercy Prestige's annual luncheon at Byers Avenue United Methodist Church today. Mercy Cardiac Surgeon Dr. James Taylor was the special guest speaker. He says his discussion "To the Heart of It" was an appropriate topic for this holiday.
"We thought we'd talk about atherosclerosis ,which affects the arteries of the heart as well as other arteries in your body. So we thought it would be a good day to discuss all the things you can do to help prevent having a heart attack or stroke," said Dr. James Taylor, Cardiovascular Surgeon, Mercy Hospital Joplin.
Mercy Prestige is a wellness program for people 50 years and older.
