CARTHAGE, MO.--- The department's mobile command bus is stationed on the Salvation Army parking lot near the entrance of the event. The fire department and Mercy Hospital are also stationed at the command center. Officers have dispatch, radio communication, and a meeting area inside the command bus. The police chief says they need to replicate the resources they have at their department at the Marian Days event.
"If you think about this, this is a city three times the size of our city during this week. We have that many people. So we need the communication, the computers, everything we have at the police department. Places to meet, we need all that stuff out here," said Greg Dagan, Carthage Police Chief.
Officers will remain at Marian Days 24/7 until Sunday afternoon.
