JOPLIN, MO.--- A leading paint manufacturer tours a revitalized portion of Joplin's downtown area. Today, the mayor along with Benjamin Moore leaders walked along Main Street between fourth and sixth streets where several businesses were recently painted. Over the past two months, a local contractor repainted more than 20 businesses as part of Benjamin Moore's "Main Street Matters" program.
"Two businesses have already opened since they started the painting that weren't currently there before, so we hope this really brings a breath of fresh air to Main Street," said Kendyl Wright, Benjamin Moore Spokesperson.
"When people see that your downtown is thriving, then that helps them want to come to your city to relocate or open up a business there. So its good for the whole city," said Melodee Colbert-Kean, Joplin Mayor.
Joplin was one of 20 cities chosen to be part of "Main Street Matters" project.
