Local Women's Shelter in Need of Bilingual Volunteers

The Lafayette House in Joplin is looking for Spanish-speaking volunteers to help women who seek their services.
JOPLIN, MO.--- The organization needs bilingual volunteers to help communicate with their non-English speaking clients. Volunteers would help with translations, filling out clients paper work, and even be a companion. The shelter provides assistance to women and children who are being abused.

"We want to make sure that we've got all the resources in place to make her very comfortable, to make sure she gets the services she needs, and don't let language be a barrier to her seeking services," said Louise Secker, Director of Development.

If you are interested in assisting the Spanish speaking families, you can contact the Lafayette House at 417-782-1772.
