NEOSHO, MO.--- A college student is running for Missouri's 7th District Congressional Seat. Genevieve Williams, 26, is pursuing a degree in journalism at Missouri State University in Springfield. The lifelong Neosho resident is the first woman to seek either the Democratic or Republican nomination for the 7th District.

Williams will be representing the Democratic party. She has two-years experience working in economic development and four years in media and advertising. Williams is also a small business owner and co-author. She hopes she can bring her experience and love for politics back to her home area.

"It was a big decision that I didn't take lightly. But I would like to throw my hat in the ring and let me people of the 7th district decide if I'm qualified to serve. You know the constitution says iIm qualified to run, but obviously serving is another matter," said Genevieve Williams, Candidate for Congressional Seat.

The primary election will be held on August 5th.
