GALENA, KS.--- The world's largest service club organization makes its way to Galena. A new chapter of Lions Clubs International is being established in Galena. Previously, members of the organization who lived in Galena would do volunteer work with the neighboring Baxter Springs chapter. Due to the gowing amount of interest, leaders have decided that it's time for Galena to have its own chapter.
"We've been in talks and in the works for a couple of months and we decided that we'd like to do it, and we have enough interest over here that we're going to start our own club," said Ashley Qualls, Galena Lion's Club President.
The group has already placed drop boxes for used eyeglasses at Liberty Hall and University Bank. Qualls says the community can expect to see more projects facilitated by the Lions Club within the next few weeks.
