JOPLIN, MO.--- Blow out the candles, the City of Joplin is turning 141 years old. A birthday party at city hall this morning featured a bit of Joplin history, along with nearly three dozen second graders. The students each wrote an essay about what they like about Joplin. A few of them got to share their thoughts as part of the ceremony. Joplin Museum Director Brad Belk says it's fun to hear about the experience from a different perspective.
"There was not one single student, or any that I read, at some point at time say that they love Joplin. And I think that's music to everybody's ears, that's fabulous," said Brad Belk, Joplin Museum Director.
Just like any other birthday party, the festivities wrapped up with cookies, punch and cake.
