JOPLIN, MO.--- The YPN group is working with the Joplin School District as they move three schools into one, the group's plan is to help recycle all the cardboard boxes during the big move on August 11th. Materials used in building the new school come in cardboard boxes, which is increasing the waste volume. YPN is encouraging the movers to recycle the cardboard in efforts to save large amounts of recyclable materials from ending up in the landfill.
"By having those cardboard bins on site, we're saving the vendors the money of having to dispose of their own trash as well," said Martha Getz, Joplin YPN Coordinator.
YPN members check the four bins at the construction site daily to make sure they're not overflowing. They also make sure other non-recyclable materials aren't in them. Those interested in learning more about the Joplin Young Professionals Network and their recycling efforts, click here.
